City West is „in“ again!
For years, Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf were left in the shadows of Potsdamer Platz and Friedrichstraße. City East was considered the place to shop and live, leaving the suburbs in City West largely ignored. But now the tables are turning and the insider tip is no longer a secret – City West has affordable living in charming turn-of-the-century apartments.
West City has so much to offer: Savignyplatz, all the side streets off Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg, and Uhlandstraße with its busy side streets in Wilmersdorf. A chance to live in atmospheric apartments with high ceilings and parquet floorings, go shopping, not in large department stores and supermarkets, but rather in small shops, run with a loving hand. For those with an eye for architecture and design, the Stilwerk on Kantstraße is waiting for you! In City West you have a chance to go eat in a restaurant where the owner opens the door for you! Or for something a bit more sophisticated, try the new café Grosz in the Cumberlandhaus.
There are so many spots to discover: a walk through the beautiful park around the Charlottenburg Palace or through the Zille-District, named after the Berlin artist Heinrich Zille, where the interesting buildings and the local pubs look like they haven’t changed since the artist lived there. The Olympic Stadium is in Charlottenburg. There are also other leafy areas in West City, for example around the Lietzensee, where there are many beautiful city villas and the living is generally quieter.
