Reside and live
One lives in red clinker constructions from the 1950s with courtyards or in terraced houses with small gardens. Around the Sievekingsallee are still some beautiful city villas and multi-family houses from the early days.
The Hammer Steindamm and the Carl-Petersen-Straße offer shopping opportunities. Many small restaurants with international cuisine and small cafes with homemade cakes lend the district its charm.
Culture and leisure
In a rehabilitated warehouse in the south of Hamm is the factory of arts, a cultural stopover for the inhabitants of the district. In the north there is also a cultural store with an extensive district archive and a small art stage. Here, for example, courses, readings or district walks are offered. Pride in Hamm is also the famous ballet school of John Neumeier, which is located in an old school building from the Wilhelminian era.
The Hammerpark, the Kiwittsmoor, the alotments at the Horner Marsch offer the inhabitants space for recreation. A great attraction is the nearby Horner Rennbahn, which hosts the German Derby of the Galoppers every year and attracts people from all over the world.
Traffic
There are various suburban and subway stations as well as various bus lines to the city center in just ten minutes. Those traveling by car have direct access to the motorway. Unlike in most of the districts of Hamburg you have no big problems with the parking search when coming home.
