City Mitwohnzentrale is now City-Wohnen Berlin: Company history

City-Wohnen Berlin, formerly City Mitwohnzentrale, looks back at a lengthy company history

The origin of City-Wohnen Berlin already lies a few years back: Our office was founded as a Mitwohnzentrale in 1992. The mediation of furnished apartments and rooms was an integral part of our work at that time. A further focus was in the mediation of unfurnished rooms on a flat share basis. It was however the furnished apartments for temporary periods of time that soon rose to the fore.

5 years after the foundation the firm became a limited company and a short time later City Mitwohnzentrale imitated its customers: Moving plans were forged and the office was moved from Schoeneberg to Hardenbergplatz in Charlottenburg.

In the following years the City Mitwohnzentrale GmbH in Berlin advanced to become one of the biggest providers of its kind in the field of short term furnished living. In the course of this advance our second homepage went online, which simplified the search for a furnished apartment in Berlin for all our world wide clients. Our objects, which were allviewed in advance, were now presented with comprehensive descriptions and photos. Further features, such as a link to the city map, are in the meantime taken for granted on other websites.

2003 was time for the next move: City Mitwohnzentrale relocated the office to the Linienstrasse 111 in the district of Mitte. The Mitwohnzentrale stayed active on the job too. The mediation was simplified for our clients, our service was improved, our online marketing was developed and enlarged and our pool of furnished apartments constantly expanded.

Our agency is a member of the European Mitwohnzentrale Ring (REM) since 1993, and since then Wilhelm Eisenbach from City-Wohnen Berlin has been an active board member of REM.

Furthermore, we are a member of the Immobilienverband Deutschland IVD: An association of property advisers, brokers, administrators and assessors, and belongs to Zeitwohnwerk – the quality network for temporary living.

A closer collaboration with the Mitwohnzentrale Hamburg arose from the similar development of our companies. Our emphasis on the mediation of furnished apartments on a temporary basis and our ambition to constantly improve our client service, helped in making our companies better known and brought us together. The outcome of this was a co-operation, which operates henceforth under the roof of City-Wohnen Deutschland (cwd). You will now find City-Wohnen in Hamburg and City-Wohnen Berlin on their joint homepage, www.city-wohnen.de, which went online in 2007.
